Jim was honored by President Bush. “President Bush today highlighted the Orange County Rescue Mission’s entrepreneurial spirit, care and compassion for the poor, and ability to bridge the gap between government and faith-based organizations during the White House’s first Annual Faith-Based Initiatives Conference in Washington, D.C.” (See President Bush's thank you letter to Jim.)

More than 2,000 people representing grassroots faith and community-based organizations from around the country gathered to learn more about the best known practices for faith-based community programs. Jim Palmer, president of the Orange County Rescue Mission in Tustin, California, was seated on the stage with President Bush and five other nationally recognized faith-based community leaders.

Jim Palmer and his family attended the conference in Washington by special invitation. President Bush spoke privately with Mr. Palmer and shook the hands of two of Mr. Palmer’s four children, James and Kody.

Jim Serves as Homeland Security Council Region One

Jim is a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council, Region One. The mission of the Region I (Governor's Office of Emergency Services—OES-LA—and Orange County) Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) is to provide direct interaction among senior executives from industry and the community with the law enforcement and public safety services in support of homeland security, civil protection, and critical infrastructure protection. This effort will enhance the effectiveness of the Los Angeles and Orange County Terrorism Early Warning (TEW) Groups by providing a capacity for direct contact with subject matter experts for counsel and advice in support of planning, training and activation.

Jim is a Member and Presenter for Christian Management Association (CMA). The Christian Management Association, founded in 1976, serves more than 3,500 leaders and managers from more than 1,500 Christian organizations and growing churches in the U.S. and Canada. CMA's MISSION is to equip our member organizations with management information, leadership training, and strategic networking relationships so ministries are led and managed in God-honoring ways.

Jim is a Board Member of the National Organizations of Priority Living and the Masters Program. The Master's Program (TMP) is an exceptional opportunity for Christian business and ministry leaders to participate in discovering their unique Kingdom Calling in order to maximize their potential.

First, the Master's Program is structured similar to an executive graduate program. Marketplace and ministry professionals move deliberately through a process that brings the tools, training, outside resources, peer interaction and real-life examples to help participants get the maximum experience out of a minimal time commitment. Jim is a Member and CPAC Certified, American Association of Christian Counselors. AACC is committed to assisting Christian counselors and the entire 'community of care,' licensed professionals, pastors, and caring church members with little or no formal training. It is our intention to equip clinical, pastoral, and lay care-givers with Biblical truth and psycho-social insights that ministers to hurting persons and helps them move to personal wholeness, interpersonal competence, mental stability, and spiritual maturity.
